Node.js VPS

Node.js VPS: your API in Argentina, close to your users

A Linux VPS with root to run Express, Next.js, NestJS or any Node.js app with PM2 and Nginx. No function limits and no cold starts: the process stays up all the time.

  • Node.js 24 LTS
  • Express
  • Next.js
  • NestJS
  • Socket.IO
  • PM2
  • Nginx
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis

In short

To run Node.js in production in Argentina, a Linux VPS with root access works best: install Node.js 24 LTS, keep the app running with PM2 and publish it behind Nginx with HTTPS. At VPS Argentina the VM2 plan (2 vCPU, 2 GB) is enough for an API or a Next.js site, with an Argentine IP and low latency to local users.

The server is delivered unmanaged: we give you the commands from the official documentation and a VPS ready to run them, but installing, configuring, updating, backing up and securing the application is up to you or your technical team. We help you get started and with specific questions, and that does not replace administering the server.

Node.js VPS

What you get

Always on

No functions that go to sleep: the process stays up, with persistent connections for WebSockets and queues.

Close to your users

With the server in Buenos Aires, an API answers users in Argentina in a few milliseconds, against the hundred-plus of a server on another continent.

Your database next door

PostgreSQL, MySQL or Redis on the same VPS, or on another one joined by a private network.

Fixed cost in pesos

You pay for the plan and nothing else: no per-request, runtime or traffic charges.

Getting started

Node.js in production, in four commands

  1. Install Node.js 24 LTS

On Ubuntu 24.04, from the official NodeSource repository:

    curl -fsSL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_24.x | bash - && apt install -y nodejs
  2. Install PM2

PM2 keeps the app running and restarts it if it crashes:

    npm install -g pm2
  3. Start your app

And set it to come back on its own after a reboot:

    pm2 start server.js --name api && pm2 startup && pm2 save
  4. Publish it over HTTPS

Nginx as a reverse proxy in front of the app port, and a free certificate:

apt install -y nginx certbot python3-certbot-nginx

Questions

Node.js VPS questions

Which Node.js version can I use?

Any version: the VPS is yours. We recommend Node.js 24 LTS, which has long-term support. With nvm you can keep several versions on the same server.

Which plan do I need for a Node.js app?

The VM2, with 2 vCPU and 2 GB, is enough for an API or a Next.js site with moderate traffic. If you build on the same server or run several apps, the VM3 or VM4 give more room.

Can I use Docker?

Yes. It is a KVM VPS with root, so Docker and Docker Compose work without restrictions.

Is it suitable for WebSockets and real time?

Yes. The process is always on and persistent connections have no duration limit, unlike serverless platforms.

Do you install and manage it?

The VPS is delivered with Linux ready and root access: the commands on this page get Node.js running with PM2 and Nginx. Administering the server and the application —updates, backups, security and deployments— is up to you or your team, as point 2.8 of the terms and conditions states. We help you get started and with specific questions.

How much does a Node.js VPS cost?

The VM3 costs $ 40,365 a month with the VPSARG code. Final monthly price, no extra taxes or hidden fees: no traffic or per-request charges.
